ATLANTA (June 14, 2021) – Carter, an Atlanta-based national leader in real estate development and investment, is proud to announce the addition of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBSMA) to the list of tenants at MET Atlanta. The nonprofit recently began construction on an 11,000-square-foot headquarters at MET Atlanta, making it the latest high-profile organization to relocate to this hub of creativity and innovation in the historic Southwest Atlanta community of Adair Park. Their move follows the opening of Nebo and the Georgia Center for Childhood Advocacy at MET Atlanta. David Yankey, senior director at Carter who oversees leasing at MET Atlanta, credits The MET’s location and burgeoning community of entrepreneurs and creatives with attracting BBBSMA and other tenants to the project.
“We’re five minutes from downtown Atlanta, next to the Connector and I-20, a short walk to the Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail and right across from the West End MARTA station,” says Yankey. “MET Atlanta is home to an amazing group of creators, from marketing firms to art galleries, architecture studios and maker spaces. We have quality retailers, production facilities and restaurants, including award-winning Rodney Scott’s BBQ, opening this summer.”
“A move to Adair Park close to Atlanta’s West End allows us to be closer to many of the families we serve. It provides easy access to our services, whether participants are driving or taking MARTA,” says Kwame Johnson, president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta. “We are looking forward to becoming part of this vibrant neighborhood.”
MET Atlanta’s historic setting and adaptable workspaces are another draw. The expansive campus, built in 1914 by Asa Candler, the founder of the Coca-Cola Company, sits on 40 acres and features views of downtown Atlanta. Boasting more than one million square feet, The MET offers inviting, industrial spaces renovated for office users ranging from 2,000 to over 100,000 square feet, with poured concrete walls, high ceilings and skylights that provide abundant natural light. Most of the spaces are single-story, offering tenants the opportunity to park in the surface parking lot and have immediate access to their workspaces.
“MET Atlanta reflects the character and creativity of our thriving city,” Yankey adds. “More businesses are discovering what Big Brothers Big Sisters, Nebo and others already know—that The MET is one of Atlanta’s one-of-a-kind assets. While Carter took the lead in negotiations with BBBSMA, our leasing team at Stream Realty Partners – Malik Leaphart and Steve DeVinney – have secured 20 other new tenants for the project during the pandemic – with many more currently under negotiation.”
MET Atlanta is located at 680 Murphy Avenue SW in Atlanta and is leased by Stream Realty Partners. For more information, please visit metatl.com.
